Privacy Policy — StudyMate Chrome Extension

StudyMate respects your privacy. This extension does not collect, store, share, or transmit any personally identifiable information. All data such as notes, tasks, and saved pages are stored locally using Chrome’s built-in storage and remain accessible only to the user.

Information Usage

Permissions Justification

StudyMate uses Chrome APIs strictly to support its study-assistant features. Each permission is used only for the functionality described below:

• storage — to save local data (notes, tasks, saved pages) within the browser so users can access their information between sessions.
• tabs — used only when the user clicks “Save Current Page” to capture the active tab’s title and URL; the extension does not read or monitor other tabs.
• notifications and alarms — to manage Pomodoro timer alerts and reminders for study sessions; these run locally and do not send data externally.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

No data collected by StudyMate is sold, shared, or analyzed by third parties. StudyMate operates entirely within the user's browser environment and requires no backend servers to provide core functionality.

Remote Code

StudyMate does not load or execute remote code. All JavaScript, CSS, and assets are packaged locally within the extension bundle to ensure security and offline functionality.

What We Don’t Do

• We do not collect personally identifiable information (name, email, address, etc.).
• We do not collect health, financial, authentication, or personal communication data.
• We do not monitor or transmit web history, location data, or user activity such as clicks, keystrokes, or scroll events.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes to our extension or legal requirements. When we do, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly.
